Help Us Keep the Music Alive at WMS by Helping to Save Our Beloved & Award-Winning Music Program
Our full-time band director position will lose funding for next year, cutting our program in half. This impact would be devastating for our school community.
If you are able, please consider donating and sharing this post. Every gift - big or small - makes a difference.
BETWEEN NOW AND JANUARY 31st, ALL DONATIONS WILL BE MATCHED UP TO $25K! Donate here: https://www.friendsofwashingtonmusic.org/donate
The WMS music program is the cornerstone of our school community, serving a group of students through daily band and orchestra classes and a robust instrument‑lending program that ensures every student can participate—regardless of family resources. More than half of all WMS students are enrolled in music, many picking up an instrument for the very first time.
Music at WMS creates connection. Students who might never cross paths in other classes become teammates and friends through shared rehearsals and performances. Quiet students who hesitate to speak up in class find their voices—boldly and confidently—through their instruments. For countless students, music is not just an elective; it is the highlight of their day and, for some, the reason they feel excited to come to school.
By supporting this program, you are helping preserve a space where students feel seen, capable, and part of something bigger than themselves. Your contribution directly sustains a program that changes lives every single day.
